The Golden Compass, a review by Will C.

How would you like to have a companion that was always there with you, could turn into any animal and was always defending you. Pretty awesome, right?

Lyra, a young girl who lives at a college in a magical world has a dæmon (a daemon is just like what I described in the first paragraph) named Pantalaimon. This is her very soul. It is connected to her by an imaginary line so that it never can go farther than a few feet away from her. She finds out about an organization that cuts people’s daemons away and keeps them in glass jars. This same organization has her dad imprisoned. She is utterly horrified. Cutting a daemon away is like cutting someones head off to Lyra. Then she finds out how she can save her dad and stop this organization.

Read the book to find out if her plan works. I recommend this book to any one who likes adventure and action.

  1. This is a great review. I understand what the book is about, there’s no typos, and it is well-written. An all-around great summary, I should check this book out sometime.
