Duke University Nasher Art Museum Field Trip

Mark Bradford’s Potable Water

On Tuesday, the sixth grade went to the Duke University Nasher Art Museum for a field trip. My favorite artist there was Mark Bradford. Mark was born 1961 and currently lives in California. In a span of six years, he became an artist after working at his mother’s beauty shop. Mark said that he never thought he would become an artist, he says the only time he really did lots of art was when he had to paint signs for the beauty shop. When painting, Mark uses acrylics but he mainly uses found objects (especially maps) to make colleagues. In 2006, Mark received to Bucksbaum Award. Mark is mostly known for his large, abstract colleagues. In 2001, he made his first sale for $3,500.

I love Mark Bradford’s art becuase it expresses confusion in an abstract way. If you would like to learn more about him, go to these websites that I used for my research:
