In the book Cosmic, Liam Digby reads his dad’s book, How to Talk to your Teen, in order to be more like a grown up. I have added an extra chapter for him!

Parenting is tough. I wouldn’t know much about it because I’m a kid but parents would agree. So here is some advice from the best parenting guide, Talk to Your Teen.

• Kids don’t tell you some things because they think you might get mad or they’re just lazy to explain their whole thing. So there’s not really a way to get it out of them unless they’re in a good mood or have something they are dying to share.

• Serve food that requires concentration to eat and tastes really good and hopefully they will want to put their phone down and enjoy the meal.

• Spend as much time as you can with them.

• Never tell them “I can’t help you right now” or “I’m busy” unless it’s really important.

• Never hit your child or tell them something that might make them feel bad about themselves.
