My Wisdom Tale by Matthew H-M

In the ancient lands there once was a wise old wizard who lived alone on an ancient mountain. Down in the land there was a young, not so wise wizard who loved tricking people. The young wizard loved money but, since he was still very young, he had not gotten the power yet to make money. So, he always was tricking people into giving him money.

One day a young man came to the old wizard seeking a spell that could cure his sick wife. He happily helped and the wife was cured. Soon, many people from all over the land came to the wizard for help and the wizard happily helped them all. When this started to happen the young wizard thought this to be a perfect opportunity to get gold and money. Every day he would change into a different person and ask for money for his fake poor starving family.
After many weeks of helping, the wizard noticed something strange. For some reason every day there was always one person who was shimmering a little bit. However, every day the shimmering person was a different age and gender. But, they always asked for money. One day the wise wizard decided to test the shimmering young boy who came to his door. He asked the boy if he really was starving. Of course the young wizard (disguised as a boy) replied yes. So, the old wizard gave the boy a large sack of bread instead of money. The young wizard had no use for the bread and was very upset but, to keep character he pretended to be very happy.
This went on for a week. On the seventh day when the young wizard was pretending to be an old woman and the old wizard gave him bread again, he finally snapped. He yelled at the old wizard. The whole town saw what had happened and that they were being tricked. The wizard was run out of town and stripped of his powers by the supreme wizard council. From that day he walked in the desert sad and alone.

  1. I like this very much, Matthew. We shoul all try not to take advantage of someone else’s generosity.
