Our class went to the Nasher Museum recently and I really enjoyed it and so this will be a very positive blog.  So we left from school pretty early and started the tour. My group had a really good guide. He didn’t really tell us about the paintings until he listened to what we thought about it first. I really enjoyed the Cone sisters’ collection. They collected hundreds of paintings starting in 1898 from Theodore Robinson. They bought their first Matisse from salon d’automne. With 57 Picasso works, over 500 Matisse, works from Renoir, Van Gogh, and others they have one of the largest modern art collections. Clarabel and Etta were not just average women, they collected amazing works that are truly astounding. One of my personal favorites is Striped Robe, Fruit, and Anemones, 1940 by Mattisse.  I love all the colors together. Part of the sisters’ collection is on loan at The Nasher Museum of Art in Durham, NC. If you haven’t seen it I would suggest viewing it, all of the works are astounding.
