In the book Cosmic the main character, Liam is reading a book called How To Talk To Your Teen. This is version two. When you talk to your teen you should never yell at them. Make sure that you never take away any privileges that will just make them more irritated and angry with you. Never talk to your teen in the car after school because it is not a good environment for an argument. Don’t ask the same question twice because teens don’t like having to repeat themselves and they might think that you don’t listen to what they say. When teens go on a rant the things they say are not true but just help cool down their frustration. Always let them do that, never make them hold in their anger, that will just make it worse. Don’t be a helicopter mom and get into their personal\love friend life. When your teen says they don’t want to talk, THEY DONT WANT TO TALK! Don’t boss your teens around that is a good way to make them angry. Try not to treat your teen like a four year old, let them go on sleepovers and get a phone, THEY’RE NOT FOUR. Don’t threaten your teen. Don’t take away having friends over for the weekend as a punishment because in the sixth grade friends are very important. Don’t say to your teen ” your too young to have a girlfriend.” So parents use this advice wisely and get maximum love out of your child.
