How to Talk to Your Teen by Sarah F.

In the book Cosmic, Liam reads a book titled, How to Talk to Your Teen. I am adding a chapter to his book.

There are several things you have to keep in mind when you talk to your teen. The first thing you need to know is what to say. Do not ask them about how they’re doing or how their day was, they’ll feel like you’re prying and are trying to get into their social life. You should ask them what they want for diner and if they would like to be alone. When you ask these things, your teen feels as if you care for them and are keeping their opinion in mind. If your child reacts badly to these questions do NOT ask what’s wrong, sometimes teens want to be alone but do not want to say it. If your teen seems at all annoyed by you when you talk to them, ask them about things they like, and if that doesn’t seem to be working make them some sort of treat. Teens often do not respond well to treats, for they feel as if they are a baby. If your teen seems to want something, like go to a party, and they feel as if you are treating them like a child, let them go to the party, but with a curfew and boundaries. It is important to make your teen feel trusted. As long as you follow these simple rules, you should be able to talk to your teen regularly.
