How Talk to Your Teen

In my sixth grade language arts class we are reading the book Cosmic by Frank Cottrell Boyce. The main character Liam Digby (a twelve year old and very tall boy), poses as his father so he can go to China to ride on a roller coaster. He needs a child before he can go, so he uses his friend Florida as his child. But Liam wants to now how he is supposed to talk to his child, so he uses his father’s book, How to Talk to your Teen. This is some of my version about How to Talk to your Teen.

  • Don’t look your teen in his eyes, it cause awkwardness.
  • Don’t be in your teen’s social life, they will think you are less weird than you already are.
  • Give your teens some of the stuff they want, they will tell you how great you are and that may spark a conversation.
  • Know if your teen is doing illegal stuff, that sparks a conversation.
  • Talk to your teen when they start talking to you.
  • Make sure they think you’re a good dad and not a bad one.
