My Best Gift, By Lydia R.

My best gift was for my eleventh birthday: a camping trip with my best friend. We went to lake near the border between northern North Carolina, and Virginia. When we arrived, we carefully picked a nice, grassy camping site, with a beautiful view of the lake, and the perfect beach, and mini-cliff going into the water. We pitched the tent, a long, mainly unsuccessful process, then changed into swimsuits and went kayaking. But the water was so gross! It was full of red clay, and our skin and bathing suits were dyed red. Our feet stains didn’t come off for days. Our main goal of the trip was to catch fish. We tried hard, but only caught a catfish, which I refused to eat. We had a dinner of dried pasta, heated with boiling water. It actually wasn’t that bad, spaghetti with meat sauce. We went for another swim, though my friend was afraid to go deeper than waist- deep. She was afraid of fish. Plus, it was freezing. The next morning, we ate eggs, with bacon cooked over a fire. We went fishing again with no luck. Sadly, it was then time to go, and we packed up and went home. This was a gift I will never forget.

One day a blue mouse was peacefully strolling through the blue jungle, when she came upon a green mouse. Instantly the blue mouse lashed out at the green mouse. As it was running away, the blue mouse noticed how thin the mouse was.

As she was walking home the blue mouse pondered, who was this mouse, what was she doing? She wished she had never scared it away.

The next day she came back again. This time the blue mouse tried to be as quiet as a mouse as she approached the green mouse. It was chewing on a berry. This time when the green mouse saw the blue mouse, it pounced and chased him to the edge of the forest. He said, “Treat others the way you want to be treated.”

What I am thankful for

When people think of property, most people think of what they don’t have. But, have you ever thought about what you have that you are thankful for, rather than what you don’t? I know what I am thankful for. I am thankful for my family, and how I have never lost anyone close to me, and how lucky I am to have them. I am thankful for my wonderful friends, How they would stick to me to the very end, and never give up on me. I am even a bit thankful for my sisters, funny, and responsible, there for me most of the time. So, this Christmas, I will remember, I may not have all of the things I may want, but money doesn’t buy happiness, experiences buy happiness.

Confidently, with a smile on his face, the youth strode over to the right door, totally forgetting about his x-ray vision. He opened the right door and a tiger walked out. He was growling. The youth didn’t know what to do, so he said, “What’s up tiger?” Meanwhile, the king was just slopering some hot chocolate when he heard a horrid boom and a few thumps. He thought that the modern day is coming too fast. Dolby digital sound track is already here. Back in the arena, the tiger stalked down the youth, its haunches low in battle position. Thinking quickly, the youth dashed forward, eyes fixed on the tiger’s back. The audence gasped in surprise. It was the first time a man had ridden a tiger as fierce as this one. The youth’s plan was to ride the tiger into a wall. He chuckled to himself, “What a good idea.” He smacked the tiger and it just went bozankers, spinning in circles and then crashing into the wall. Everyone was speechless. The king’s daughter just rolled her eyes. Why can’t there be entertainment like this every time.


 

I’m thankful for…

I’m thankful for so much but three stand out the most. In today’s word a lot of bad things are happing with suicides, gun usage, desperation and violence. The most important things I’m thankful for are….

*My family, because they are always there for me when I’m sad or just need someone to talk to.

*My friends, because they are there for me whenever I need them, someone is always there to text or talk on the phone.

*My faith, because no matter what your faith is always with you. To choose the right path in life and have a purpose to wake up in the morning.

Nasher Museum by Tanner

Pablo Picasso

My favorite artist at the Nasher museum was Picasso. His artwork was impressive and colorful unlike some other paintings in other places.

Now here are some interesting facts about him. When Germany outlawed bronze casting in paris the french resistance smuggled bronze to him. His last words where ” drink to me, drink to my health, You know I can not drink anymore ” this was at a party. Picasso had a blue period and a rose period. One of the quotes he made was “art is a lie that makes us realize truth.” Pablo Picasso was also a printmaker. Pablo Picasso has been on postage stamps. all of his paintings together are valued over 150 million dollars. Pablo Picasso invented cubism. Do you like Picasso’s artwork? It looks like he really worked on his paintings.

My favorite birthday was my 1st grade birthday.

It was my first grade birthday and when I woke up in the morning I was jumping around, my feet stomping. This was going to be the best birthday ever. I zipped out the door right past my awesome neighbor and down to the bus. After a long day of school, I jumped back off the bus and noticed something peculiar about my house! There were weird lights and sounds blaring from inside and then I heard Darth Vader !? What! Soon everyone in my class came, and we tramped around for Darth Vader. There was bang and a bong and some yells. I quickly rushed over to the noise and before I knew it I was battling Darth Vader. I thought now this is an awesome birthday.

I made this comic using Adobe Photoshop and Comic Life. It was fun and I learned how to use Photoshop which I had never used before. I thought it was complicated but it actually was not that hard. I had fun!
